1. Your statutory right of withdrawal — EU and Germany (Widerrufsrecht)
Under BGB §312g (Fernabsatzverträge) in conjunction with the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), if you are a consumer (Verbraucher — a natural person acting outside trade or profession), you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of conclusion without giving any reason (Widerrufsrecht).
The 14-day period begins on the day you sign up for Sentrytex, including when you start a free trial. The period does not restart when your trial converts to a paid subscription, provided we have given you clear, comprehensible, and explicit information about the post-trial price and auto-renewal at signup (which we do).
2. Effect of starting the service immediately (§356 BGB Abs. 4 / Art. 16(m) CRD)
At signup, we ask you to expressly request that Sentrytex begins providing the service immediately and to acknowledge that, by doing so, you will lose your right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. This is required by §356 Abs. 4 BGB (implementing Art. 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive).
Until the 14-day window expires, you may still withdraw from the contract. If you withdraw before the service is fully performed, we may charge a proportionate amount for what has been provided up to the moment you informed us of your withdrawal (§357 Abs. 8 BGB). In practice, free-trial users who withdraw before being charged owe nothing.
3. How to exercise your right of withdrawal (Widerrufsbelehrung)
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us of your decision by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post or email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, though it is not obligatory.
Contact [email protected]from the email address on your Sentrytex account, with the subject line “Widerrufsrecht” or “Withdrawal”. You do not need to give a reason.
You may also exercise this right by deleting your account from your account settings; if you delete within the 14-day window we will refund any payment taken.

5. Refund processing
Once we receive your withdrawal request, we will refund the full amount paid for the cancelled period to your original payment method without undue delay, and in any event within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal (§357 BGB). Card refunds typically appear in your account within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
We do not retain any portion of the refund as a processing fee, except where mandated by law in your jurisdiction.
6. After the 14-day window
Outside the statutory withdrawal period, refunds are at our discretion. We may issue a partial or full refund where there is a good-faith reason, for example, a billing error or a service incident. Contact [email protected] to discuss.
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you keep access until then. We do not pro-rate refunds for unused time on annual or monthly plans cancelled mid-period, except where required by your statutory rights.
7. Other jurisdictions
California (US):Under California's Automatic Renewal Law (as amended effective 1 July 2025), you may cancel your subscription at any time using the same medium in which you signed up (one-click cancel from your account settings). For trials longer than 31 days you will receive a reminder before the first charge.
Australia: The Australian Consumer Law guarantees that the Service is of acceptable quality and reasonably fit for purpose. If we have failed those guarantees you are entitled to a refund or replacement.
Canada: Provincial consumer-protection laws (including Ontario Consumer Protection Act s. 43, Quebec Consumer Protection Act s. 59) give you cancellation rights when distance-contract disclosure rules are not met. We make those disclosures at signup.
8. Business customers
Statutory consumer rights described above (including the Widerrufsrecht) generally do not apply to purchases made by businesses (including sole traders acting in the course of business — Unternehmer im Sinne des §14 BGB). For business cancellations and refunds the Sentrytex Terms of Service and the cancellation mechanics described in section 6 apply.
9. Frequently asked questions
Q: I signed up and haven't been charged yet. Can I cancel for free?
A: Yes. If you are within your 7-day free trial, you can cancel from settings at any time before the trial ends with no charge. If you are within the 14-day withdrawal window and have been charged, you can request a full refund at [email protected].
Q: I was billed but changed my mind the next day. Am I entitled to a refund?
A: If you are a consumer (not a business) and you are within 14 days of signing up, yes — you have a statutory right of withdrawal. Contact [email protected]. If you are a business customer, refunds after billing are at our discretion under the Terms of Service.
Q: How long does a refund take to appear?
A: We process the refund within 14 days of receiving your request. Card refunds typically appear in your bank account within 5–10 business days after processing.
Q: What if I want a refund outside the 14-day window?
A: Outside the statutory Widerrufsrecht window (and any other jurisdiction-specific consumer-protection windows), all sales are final. We do not offer goodwill refunds, partial refunds, or prorated refunds for unused months. If your subscription is still active and you want to stop future billing, cancel from the billing portal — service continues until the end of the current billing period.
